About The Scarborough Guildwood Electoral District

The Scarborough Guildwood Green Party of Ontario Constituency Association is registered with Elections Ontario and is the official representative of the GPO in Scarborough Guildwood. In 2007 the Scarborough Guildwood Electoral District was created by Elections Ontario as part of a boundary restructuring to bring it in line with the new Federal Boundaries. The Scarborough Guildwood CA was registered in August of 2007 at a Founding Meeting attended by the majority of GPO members in the area. Between elections Constituency Associations represent the interests of their Party in their District, conduct fund raising activities, hold events to promote the agenda of their Party, provide input into the Policies of their Party and send representatives to Party Policy and Leadership conventions.

The Scarborough Guildwood Provincial Electoral District sits atop the towering Scarborough Bluffs in the south east corner of the City of Toronto. It's boundaries are Lake Ontario to the south, Bellamy Road to the west, the 401 to the North and Morningside and Highland Creek to the East. With a population of over 112,628 it is larger than the cities of Peterborough or Lindsay or Orillia. At over 33 square kilometres in size, it has 66, 049 electors on the Provincial list. Centennial College is located in Scarborough Guildwood and Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital is its main medical facility. Beautiful Cedar Ridge, high atop the Highland Creek Valley, is one of the City's best art schools; while the Guild Inn is being considered for renovation into a world class culinary school. Scarborough Golf Club is one of the premier private golf club in the City of Toronto.

Scarborough Guildwood's major east-west roadways include Kingston and Lawrence Roads to the south, Ellesmere and Sheppard to the North, with Bellamy, Markham, Morningside, and Neilson the main North-South arteries. Major shopping areas include the new Morningside Crossing, Cedarbrae Mall and the historic shopping centres at Highland Creek Village and Guildwood Village.

The area is blessed with some of the most beautiful parks in the city, lying along the area's main waterways: Lake Ontario, Highland Creek, and West Hill Creek. Highland Creek is home to a spectacular salmon run in October. Col. Danforth Park is quiet and cool, a place to hike or bike or find a quiet place to meditate. Morningside Park is where the residents of the area come to picnic and play.

The Green Party of Ontario in Scarborough Guildwood is committed to preserving the best of this area, working to make this an even healthier and better place in which to work, live and play. Won't you join us?
